WADDELL & REED AGREES TO CONSENT ORDER BY NORTH DAKOTA INSURANCE AND SECURITIES COMMISSIONER

Bismarck, ND - Commissioners Jim Poolman and Karen Tyler today announced the terms of a settlement reached with Waddell & Reed, Inc., an investment and financial services firm. The North Dakota consent order approves the terms of the global settlement negotiated by the NASD and a coalition of state insurance and securities regulators. It requires that Waddell & Reed set up a fund in the amount of $11 million to be distributed to customers whose variable annuity funds were switched unlawfully. Details

PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THEIR FINANCIAL FUTURES

Bismarck, ND - More than 120 elementary and secondary teachers will attend the 10th Annual Invest North Dakota Teachers Academy, sponsored by the North Dakota Securities Department, July 18-22 at the University of Mary in Bismarck. The purpose of the Academy is to assist teachers in presenting personal finance in the classroom, resulting in better educated consumers making good financial choices. Teachers will be introduced to innovative curriculum tools that will assist curriculum planning, as well as hear from approximately 20 business, education and professional leaders. Details

This valuable course will assist teachers in presenting personal finance topics to their students. STOCK MARKET GAME WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Bismarck, ND - Students from Washington Elementary of Fargo, Oakes Middle School, and Williston's Trinity Christian High School have won the Elementary, Middle and High School competitions in North Dakota for the Spring, 2005 Stock Market Game. The teams receiving second place honors were from Washington Elementary of Fargo, Cheney Middle School of West Fargo, and Velva High School. There were 1,024 teams and 2,536 students participating in all grade levels of the competition. Details

Bismarck, ND - Students from Washington Elementary of Fargo, Discovery Middle School of Fargo, and Williston's Trinity Christian High School have won the Elementary, Middle and High School competitions in North Dakota for the Fall, 2004 Stock Market Game. The teams receiving second place honors were from Washington Elementary of Fargo, Ben Franklin Junior High School of Fargo, and Child & Adolescent Services School of Jamestown. Also winning first and second place honors in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) statewide competition were teams from Velva High School FBLA and Hatton High School FBLA. There were 908 teams and 2,765 students participating in all grade levels of the competition. Details
